He was elected district attorney for Lyon County from 1982 to 1990. After leaving office, Rogers has been self-employed in private practice for the last 10 years, involved in both civil and criminal matters.

Additionally, he does reduced cost adoptions for members of the community and is a conflict counsel for Carson City. He was a founder and charter member of the Dayton Township Kiwanis Club and is involved in many of that club's community efforts.

He was involved with the fund-raising effort for the construction of the Dayton Library. He is on the Board of Directors for the Carson Treatment Center and is the Registered Agent for Central Lyon Youth Connections.

Rogers is an honorably discharged United States Marine who served in Vietnam and is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Citing his extensive legal experience, both as counsel for the prosecution and defense and his involvement with both civil and criminal matters, Rogers said, "I know I can do a good job for the people, providing fair and just decisions based on the law."
