A memorial service for Charles Ivan Boyd, 62, a Gardnerville resident for the past four years, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church with Father Bill Nadeau presiding.
Mr. Boyd died Feb. 5, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital in Reno. He was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Montebello, Calif., to Charles Thomas and Ora Merle Hurt Boyd.
He attended UCLA for three years.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Covina, Calif.
Mr. Boyd owned and managed the New Fern Guest Home in Rosemead, Calif., for 35 years. He was a dedicated member of the March of Dimes for 25 years and was awarded a 25-year service plaque by the March of Dimes. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale.
Among his survivors are his wife Shirley Mae "Nikki" of Gardnerville; daughter Alanna Miller of Granada Hills, Calif.; nephews Rick of Walla Walla, Wash., and Mark of Redding, Calif.; and two grandsons.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
