A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville for Marie Sarasola, 96, a Gardnerville resident for 73 years. Father Bill Nadea will be the celebrant. She died June 15 at her home in Gardnerville.
Mrs. Sarasola was born Jan. 12, 1904, in Esterencuby, France, to Jean and Marianne Urruty Arrossagaray.
She was an avid gardener and kept a large vegetable garden well into her late 80s. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Sarasola came to the Carson Valley in the late 1920s.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Pierre, who died in June 1975 and a son, Robert, who died May 19, 1994.
She is survived by her daughters Marian Barrett of Gardnerville and Barbara Indiano of Minden; three sisters and one brother, all in France; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
A rosary will be said at St. Gall Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Walton's Wall of Memories in Carson City 9 a.m. Monday.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
