Obituary: Orla Murphy

Orla Kay Murphy, of Las Vegas, died Sept. 25, 1999. She died as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.

She was born Dec. 14, 1958, in Salt Lake City to Ossie and Bessie Pantaloon Murphy.

She grew up in Carson City and was a member of Girl Scout Troop 207. She like to play the piano, sew, read books, and ride bicycles among other outdoor activities, especially skiing. She loved all of nature especially animals.

She graduated from Carson High School in 1976 and attended Western Nevada Community College and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

At the time of her death she was employed at the Las Vegas Water District.

She lived with her aunt and grandmother, Jennie Snooks, from March 1959. Her parents and grandmother proceeded her in death.

Among her survivors are her brother, Robert B. Murphy; aunt, Mable J. Snooks of Carson City; uncle George Murphy of Beowawe; and several cousins of Elko and Beowawe.

No funeral services have been scheduled. Cremation was held in Las Vegas at Affordable Cremation and Burial Services on Sept. 29, 1999. A private Native American Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Beowawe.

A memorial is being established at the Nevada Humane Society at 200 Kresge Lane, Sparks 89431.
