A memorial service for Robert "Bob" Schmidt, 67, a Minden resident, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Schmidt died March 1, at his home. He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Petaluma, Calif., to Carl and Olga Schlumberger Schmidt.
He was a resident of Genoa and Minden for eight years, coming from Burlingame, Calif.
Mr. Schmidt was retired from his business of manufacturing and installing garage doors and was the founder of Douglas County Overhead Door Co. He was a member of the Genoa Lakes Men's Club and a former member of the California Club in San Francisco, Calif. He loved to play golf and enjoyed all sports and had been a professional baseball player with a Kansas organization.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are his wife, Sharon "Sheri" of Minden; son, Marke F. of Concord, Calif.; daughters Kathleen M. Schmidt of Burlingame, Calif., Susan A. Meroli of Vacaville, Calif. and Debra L. Fisse of Hollister, Calif.; and sisters, Pearl Messer and Carol Powell both of Carson City.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
