Student artists invited to design duck conservation stamps

The federal Fish and Wildlife Service is looking for student artists to design the 2000 Federal Junior Duck Stamp.

The contest is patterned after the federal duck stamp program. The junior stamp program is designed to increase awareness among the nation's youth of needs to conserve wetlands and waterfowl.

The competition is open to all students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Entries must be hand-drawn, not computer generated, originals of live North American ducks, geese or swans.

Nevada judges will review this state's entries, selecting first, second and third place as well as honorable mention winners - three apiece - from each age group. The age groups are K-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

The artists will receive ribbons and prizes.
