Several honored in Wendy's Program

Several Carson Country athletes have been nominated for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award program.


Galena High's Daniel Carew and Lauren Wallace, Dayton High's Ryan Jacobsen and Shanna Skog, Dayton's Annathea Moore who attends Virginia City High have all been nominated for the award.


Senior athletes who have at least a B average and participate in at least one sport are eligible for the award. Students are judged on academics, athletics and community service.


The field was scheduled to be narrowed to 1,020 state finalists, 10 male and 10 female for each state plus the District of Columbia this month. There will be 102 state winners named - one male and one female for each state and the District of Columbia.


In mid-November, 12 finalists will be selected. Two national winners - a male and female athlete - will be chosen and honored during ESPN's national telecast of the Heisman Trophy ceremony in December.
