Galena volleyball beats South Tahoe

The Galena volleyball team kept rolling along with a 15-11, 15-6, 15-13 win at South Tahoe.


Lauren Wallace had 31 assists for the Grizzlies (8-1, 2-0). Carly Kolesar led the attack with 13 kills while Whitney Dibble and Joanna Hixon each had nine kills and Melissa Reaney added four kills.


Defensively, Dibble had five blocks, Wallace had three blocks and Reaney added two blocks. In the back row, Wallace had 10 digs, Chelsea Appelbaum had eight digs and Hixon had seven digs.


In serving, Teresa MIller had four aces, Hixon served for five points and two aces, Emily Welmerink served for three points and two aces, Kolesar served for seven points and Whtney Miller served for five points.


Galena will be one of the schools hosting the High Sierra Invitational, which begins at 3 p.m. today. Thirty-two teams from Nevada, California and Oregon are competing in the event. The championship match is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday.
