A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for felony drunken driving after allegedly causing an accident in which a 6-year-old girl was injured.

Kenneth J. Arnold, an iron worker, was taken into custody at 5:31 p.m. at Edmonds and Clearview drives for suspicion of felony drunken driving causing substantial bodily harm. His bail is set at $40,000.

Arnold was traveling southbound on Edmonds Drive in a company vehicle owned by Martin Iron Works about 4 p.m. when he attempted to make a left turn onto Clearview Drive, said Carson City Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Scott Burau.

A 1999 Dodge Neon driven by Jerry Allec was waiting to cross Edmonds from Clearview when Arnold slammed into the Neon, Burau said.

"This was very nearly a head-on and could have been much worse," he said.

An unnamed 6-year-old girl in the vehicle was transported to Carson-Tahoe Hospital because of stomach pains.
