The Carson Crushers 14-year-old and under traveling baseball team gained valuable experience this weekend against high school aged players in a Fourth of July tournament at Douglas High School.

Carson went 1-3 in the event. The Crushers took their opener on Friday, defeating South Tahoe 5-3. Royal Good got the win and helped his own cause with two RBIs.

The Crushers lost a heartbreaker in Friday's nightcap, as Vacaville rallied in the bottom of the last inning to post a 5-4 victory. Sean Costella started, went three innings, and allowed just one hit. Kyle Cahill led the offense with an RBI triple to the wall. Cahill, Markus Adams, Josh Caron and Royal Good all scored off RBIs from Costella, Good, Jack Maloney, and Nick Smallman.

On Saturday, the Crushers played close early with Bishop, California's Sierra Sun Devils, but came up short in the end. Brooks Greenlee was a solid presence behind the plate and also contributed offensively. On Sunday, the tournament concluded as South Tahoe avenged its earlier loss to the Crushers with a solid win.

The Crusher players will take some time off to play in their respective Babe Ruth 13 and 14-year-old All-Star series. The 13s begin play Saturday in Sparks, while the 14s start on July 18 in Reno.
