A search for a fallen glider came up empty-handed Thursday afternoon after rescue units and a helicopter were unable to locate the reported crash.

Carson City Sheriff's dispatch received a call about 11:30 a.m. from a heavy equipment operator at Pick-N-Pull in Mound House. The caller said he saw a glider go down short of the Parker Carson Stolport off Flint Drive near Mound House.

Emergency units from the Sheriff's Department, Carson City Fire Department and Nevada Division of Forestry responded to the desert between Pick-N-Pull and the Carson City Landfill.

Crews were unable to locate the crash from the ground and called in help from a Care Flight helicopter which circled the area numerous times in an attempt to spot the accident scene. None was ever found.

The search lasted for about an hour.
