For three innings, the Carson High softball team played evenly with Reno.

But over the last three innings, Reno showed why its considered one of Northern Nevada's top teams. The Huskies led 1-0 after three innings, then scored three runs in the fourth, two in the fifth and five in the sixth on their way to an 11-0 win on Tuesday.

Jackie Reinhart pitched a two-hitter for Reno, which has four players who have signed or will sign Division I athletic scholarships. "They've got a fine team," Carson coach John Sullivan said.

Carson committed two errors in the fourth, which led to Reno's rally. "We played well and then the wheels came off," Sullivan said.

Brittany Puzey struck out six over five innings while Kayla Dunn pitched the sixth for Carson (7-1-1, 5-1 in the Sierra League). None of the runs that Dunn gave up were earned.

Bethany Henry and Kaylee Risi had the hits for the Senators, which will face another tough league game against Douglas at home on Thursday.

"We're learning," Sullivan said. "We've got to get these kids ready to play. We'll be fine. We're still optimistic."
