A memorial service for Tom Smith, 73, a Carson City resident for the past 30 years, will be at a later date.
Mr. Smith died Nov. 17, 2002, in Carson City. He was born April 2, 1929, in Fairfield, Calif., to Thomas C. and Clara Waugh Smith. He was the sixth generation of a pioneer California family.
He received a bachelor of arts degree from College of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., in 1951.
He married Dorothy M. Smith in 1950.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Incline Village.
Mr. Smith was a construction engineer in the building industry. He was past master of Centennial Lodge 47 F&AM and was an adviser for the DeMolay in Carson City. He volunteered at the Nevada State Railroad Museum and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Karina Lillie Smith in 1985.
Among his survivors are: his wife, of Carson City; son, Bradley David of Minden; daughters Carolynn Ivy Keebler of Corvallis, Ore., Hollon "Holly" Elizabeth Boyles of Turlock, Calif., and Laurel S. Dority of Carson City; and 15 grandchildren.

He will be buried in his family plot in Fairfield, Calif.
