Bell wins Box Stocks

McKena Bell put her name in the winner's column once again in the final race of the season on her way to the season championship in the Box Stock class in Outlaw Karts.


Drivers 8-14 years old typically compete in the Box Stock class. Points from Bell's main event win and heat race victory added to her season total of 1001. Bell finished the season 95 points ahead of Shelby Price, who finished second in the title chase with 906 and captured the Rookie of the Year crown.


Zachary Heinz, one of the youngest drivers in the class at six years of age was third with 884 points, followed by Brittney Kline and Christian Steele in a dead heat for fourth at 826. With Nicole Johnson finishing the season in sixth, four out of the top six spots in the points championship went to female drivers.


First-year racer Blayke Olson, who moved up from the Beginner class late in the season, scored both the trophy dash win and a heat race victory in the final race. Eighteen drivers in all competed in Box Stock in 2002.
