Red Dogs split in tourney

The Nevada Red Dogs recently split four games at the Red Bluff Tournament in California in fall baseball action.


The Red Dogs lost to Red Bluff Rattlers 8-4 and Eureka, Calif. 12-5, but defeated Shasta10-1 and beat Chico, Calif. 11-3. The Red Dogs (10-4) feature several Carson Country players.


Against Chico, Manogue's Jimmy McCarthy was the winning pitcher. Carson High's Owen Brolsma and Jake Rasner both homered and had two RBIs. Rasner went 2-for-2 while Brolsma was 2-for-3.


Against Shasta, Carson's Jon Teeter went 2-for-5 with an RBI, Carson's Neil Holmes was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Dayton's Matt Bowman was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.


Against Eureka, Holmes doubled with two RBIs and Bowman doubled with an RBI.


Rasner also homered and went 2-for-4 against Red Bluff. Bowman added a hit, Holmes went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Carson's Willie Bowman went 2-for-4 with a double.


The Red Dogs will be playing in a tournament this weekend at Governor's Field. The Red Dogs will play at noon and 5:30 p.m. Saturday and will play at 9 a.m. and noon Sunday.
