Golf scholarship is available

The Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation is offering its "For the Good of the Game" scholarship.


It is a $1,000 one-time scholarship.


(doing business as Eagle Valley Golf. Qualifications are as follows:


A Carson City graduating senior involved in golf either through play or work.


A minimum 3.0 grade point average and submission of a completed application with confirmation of G.P.A. by a guidance counselor.


Submission of a one page paper, typed or clearly written, on activities and interests relating to golf and why the applicant deserves the scholarship.


Applicants will have their submittals and application reviewed by a committee made up of directors of the Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation. The committee will be comprised of members that do not have a child eligible for the current year's scholarship. The committee will make the final decision.


The funds will be deposited with the financial office of the school the applicant plan to attend. If the funds are not used before June 30, 2004, they will be returned to the Carson City Municipal Golf Corporation.


The funds may be applied to any school of higher education, including a four-year school, community college, a trade school, or a specialty school.


Completed applications with submittals must be received no later than 4 p.m. May 2 and may be hand-delivered to the administrative office at Eagle Valley Golf or mailed to:

Incomplete applications will not be considered. The successful applicant will be notified no later than May 16, as well as being honored at the Carson High School Scholarship Night on May 22.
