Heilman strong in JV track meet

Josh Heilman turned in an outstanding hand time of 11.01 seconds in the 100 meters to lead the Carson High junior varsity track team at the Regional Championships on Tuesday at Spanish Springs.


The event included Northern 4A and 3A schools. Heilman was a double winner in the 100 and 200. Carson's girls 1,600 relay team of Courtney Hayes, Deelynn Leigh, Taleah Reymus and Sandra McAlman also placed first. In addition, Wes Kaylor won the 300 hurdles and placed second in the 110 high hurdles.


Other highlights for Carson's boys included Derwin Leigh taking fifth in the long jump; Carson's 800 relay team placing third and the 1,600 relay team of Nick Brothers, Kaylor, Jeremy Gray and Jason Dittenber taking sixth; and Seth Carter placing sixth in the 800.


For the girls, Hayes placed eighth in the 100 hurdles, seventh in the 800 and second in the 300 hurdles and Kristin Neddenreip placed fifth in the 1,600.
