Hardt takes 16th at nationals

Carson High graduate Julie Hardt placed 16th in the 100-meter freestyle at the United States Swimming Championships on Wednesday in College Park, Md.


Hardt, who will be a senior at the University of Georgia, qualified 16th in the preliminaries in 57.37 seconds for Reno Aquatics. Hardt placed 16th in the finals in 57.38. Hardt came into the event seeded No. 31.


Also on Wednesday, Hardt turned in a solid effort in the 200 butterfly, finishing in 29th in 2:16.58.


Today, Hardt is scheduled to swim in the 200 free where she's seeded 11th. Reno Aquatics is also entered in the 400 free relay where it is seeded 11th.


On Friday, Hardt is scheduled to swim in the 400 free where she's seeded 22nd. Reno Aquatics is also scheduled to swim in the 800 free relay on Friday.
