Obituary: Jacob Moler

A funeral for Jacob Cord Moler, 69, a long-time Sparks resident, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Sparks Funeral Home.

Viewing will be from noon-1 p.m. Thursday.

Mr. Moler died Aug. 24 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born June 18, 1934, in Pueblo, Colo., to Roland R. and Verlee Shore Moler.

He moved to Sparks in 1944, and graduated from Sparks High School in 1952.

He married Joan Parry, who preceded him in death. He married Alicia Castor Jan. 19, 1985.

After high school, he began working for Sierra Pacific Power Co. as a diesel turbine mechanic and shop foreman. He retired after 50 years in 2002, holding the longest record of continuous employment with Sierra Pacific.

He was a member of the IBEW Local 1242. He was a member of the Ben Franklin Masonic Lodge of Masons and the Kerak Shrine Temple for 28 years. He donated blood to United Blood Services and received the One Gallon Award.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 20 years and retired as a chief warrant officer with the 150th Maintenance Corps.

Among his survivors are his wife of Sparks; son, Rick of Sparks; daughters Vicki Jeffers of Ukiah, Calif., and Nancy Rehling of Sparks; stepdaughter, Cynthia Ann Paredes of Lovelock; brothers Roland "Skip" of Wellington and Donald of Sparks; grandchildren Kimmie Meuniot of Ukiah, Blain Matthews of Sacramento, Krissi Ahern of San Diego, Calif., Salvadore Paredes of Lovelock, Brittany Moler of Carson City and Edward, Mark and Alicia Paredes, all of Lovelock; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Inurnment will be at Masonic Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or to a charity of choice.
