A memorial service for Kenneth B. Floto, 91, an eight-year resident of Fallon, will be 9 a.m. Saturday, at David Walley's Resort in Genoa. He lived in Jacks Valley for 30 years prior to moving to Fallon.

Mr. Floto died July 17, 2007, at his home. He was born April 26, 1916, to Sidney and Emilie Floto, in Oakland, Calif. He married Carol in 1946. He was a graduate of Gallileo High School in San Francisco and the University of Omaha, Neb. He joined the U.S. Army in 1941, serving in World War II, The Korean Conflict and in Lebanon. He was a senior Army adviser to the Nevada National Guard. He retired as a full Colonel. He received the Combat Infantry Badge; Distinguished Service Cross; Legion of Merit; two Bronze Stars; four Army Commendation Medals; four Purple Hearts; French Croix de Guerre with Silver Star; French Fourragere to the Croix de Guerre. He enjoyed biking, hiking, skiing and sailing.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996; brother Sidney Floto; and sister Verniece.

Among his survivors are daughter Leslie Jacobs; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Agnes Floto all of Fallon; daughter Lori Floto of Sparks; grandchildren, Christine Jacobs, Robert Jacobs, Jeremy Floto, Corie Floto, and cousin Jacques Audiffred of Woodside, Calif.
