A memorial service for Charles Wayne Mathis, 72, a Carson City resident for the past 38 years, will be at 4 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Mathis died Feb. 26, 2003, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Gorman, Texas, to Willis Wayne and Nellie Mae Greenwood Mathis.
He married Evelyn Couch, his childhood sweetheart, June 30, 1948, in Coleman, Texas.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Farmington, N.M.
Mr. Mathis was a district manager for National Federation of Independent Business, retiring in 1982. He also worked as a deliveryman for Model Dairy in Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville and Reno.
He was a past member of the Eagles Lodge in Carson City. He was a Baptist.
Among his survivors are his wife, Evelyn of Carson City; daughters Yvonne Wynette Wolfsen of Weatherford, Texas, Kathryn A. Lathrop of Carson City and Marsha L. Corlley of Bloomington, Ill.; son, Charles W. Jr. of Auburn, Wash.; brother, Billy J. of Arlington, Texas; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
