Revolver used in motel robbery

A series of recent thefts at the Carson City Inn appear to be unrelated, detectives say.

A desk clerk at the Carson City Inn was the victim of an armed robbery late Sunday, said Detective Bob White of the Carson City Sheriff's Department.

"At about 11:30 p.m., a male and female came into the motel's check-in counter, produced some type of revolver, and demanded the money," he said. "There was one clerk on duty."

The incident was recorded on the inn's video camera. After the robbers retrieved the money in the cash register, they left on foot.

The man was wearing a mask, and the woman had brown hair, White said.

The office had had another petty larceny earlier that day, but the amount of money taken has not been determined, White said.

"A black man had taken money from the cash register earlier while the clerk was doing some business out of the office," he said. "There was also a burglary last week where someone broke into one of the rooms and took some things, but we don't think the incidents are related."

The Inn is at 1930 N. Carson St.

The matter is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 322-4900 or White at 887-2020, ext. 1404.
