Obituary: Sherry G. Fisher

Sherry G. Fisher, 64, died Feb. 22, 2002. She was born in Detroit to Glenn and Virginia Alexander.

She lived in the Tahoe-Carson City-Reno area for most of her adult life. She had recently returned to Reno after some time in Gulfport, Miss.

She was an artist, jewelry maker and potter. Many of her paintings remain in the Reno area.

She was a deputy sheriff in Douglas County at Zephyr Cove from 1967 to 1968. In 1970, she was the first woman in Ormsby County to run for the office of sheriff.

Among her survivors are her parents Glenn and Virginia Alexander of Washington state; husband of 25 years, Bill of Reno; children Lisa Amundson Long of Reno, Melanie Amundson Petrelli of Reno and Robert C. Amundson II of Carson City; stepdaughter, Allison Fisher Felton of Rockford, Ill.; sisters Kim Brace of Bellevue, Wash., Willow Alexander of Spokane, Wash., and Pallas Hubler of Aberdeen, Wash; brothers Merric Alexander of Old Town, Fla., and Jann Alexander of Crosby, Texas; and granddaughters Carmen, Brenna and Morgan, all of Reno.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or breast cancer research.

A family celebration of life will be at a later date.
