Intake No. 2: Still doing very good with Power Bait or worms.

North Lake: Continues to do well with white Trout Teasers or olive Matuka flies.

Sabrina Lake: had a lot of stringers coming out. Trolling very good with Rapala or Needlefish lures.

South Lake: The top fish of the week were a 7-pound, 3-ounce Alpers with a nightcrawler, fishing pretty deep, and a 3-pound, 8-ounce rainbow with a nightcrawler.

Bishop Creek: A lot of good reports in the Table Mt. area and around the beaver pond. Some good reports using Panther/Martin or small Kastmaster lures.

Weir Pond: No report.

Backcountry: No report.

BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) said the road work in now complete for the year.

Upper Blue Lake: Limits from shore, but nothing big.

Lower Blue Lake: Pretty well drained down for some work on the dam. Lots of fish in a little bit of water.

Meadow Lake: Same conditions as at Lower Blue Lake.

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby said a boat fisherman reported that the Mackinaw trout are under the rainbow trout on his fish finder. He caught limits of small rainbows on Flatfish or Rapala lures.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Dollard's Sierra Market in Portola (530) 832-5251 reported fishing is rated as good for bank anglers and excellent for those fishing from boats.

Trolling in the main body of the lake in 9-14 feet of water with a Needlefish lure or a cinnamon Woolly Bugger fly has produced the best results with some angler catching over 30 fish per day.

Bank fishermen have found limited success using nightcrawlers or Power Bait.

Fly fishing has been good for those fishing the west-northwest end of the lake.

The best success has been with a cinnamon or burnt orange Jay Fair Wiggly-Tail Nymph on a floating line and a slow retrieval.

EAGLE LAKE, CALIF: Dave Meserve of the Eagle Lake Marina said: "Early fall fishing and weather is good.

Fish are averaging 2-4 pounds with reports of fish exceeding 5 pounds, common.

Fish being caught near Eagles Nest, out from the Marina jetty, near Merrill Campground, the youth camp and the tules near Spaulding.

Early morning hours are working best.

Trollers report best results using trolling flies, nightcrawlers or Rainbow Runners.

Shore fishing continues excellent from the jetty. Use jigs, nightcrawlers, or Power Bait under bobbers."

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Is reportedly "red hot" fishing right now for many different anglers.

Stefan at Smith's Food and Drug Center in Carson City reported catching and releasing over 26 cutthroat, while spincasting from shore with lures.

Dave Kirby of Woodfords, Calif. said that his fishing party of three anglers, trolling in a boat, caught and released a total of 27 cutthroat trout (2-4.5 pounds) on the opening day. They were trolling at a depth of 70 feet in Anderson Bay.

Chuck Haltom of Carson City checked in and said that he caught and released 37 cutthroat on Opening Day and another 33 on the following day. They averaged 21 inches in length and he was jigging from a float tube.

Producing limits most days, other days 4-6 fish a day.

Size of salmon 25-30 pounds.

A 45 pound king was caught over the weekend.

Techniques being used include bouncing roe and back-trolling, green and chrome Flatfish lures.

Watch for larger, brighter salmon to appear in Nov. and Dec.

Salmon season will remain open until Jan. 14, 2004.

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "It's been up and down. One day is good. The next day isn't. It's just the month of October. Yesterday (Monday) was the pits. Today (Tuesday), we did very good, with three limits of Macks that were all in the 5-6 pound class.

We're catching our Mackinaw trout very early in the morning.

I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.

We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

We had a married gal and her mom check in yesterday with two limits of rainbows, plus a 12.8 pound Channel Catfish.
