Obituary: Shirley Schwartz

A memorial service for Shirley Rose Schwartz, 75, a Minden resident for the past 14 years, will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 25 in the Rainbow Chapel at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, Calif.

Mrs. Schwartz died Oct. 10, 2003, in Minden. She was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Alhambra, Calif., to Harold and Leanore Edis.

She attended Alhambra High School and Pasadena City College.

She married Joseph Schwartz in February 1948 in Alhambra.

Before moving to Minden, she lived in Glendora, Calif.

Mrs. Schwartz was a homemaker and volunteer at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church in Minden. She loved people, travel and bingo.

Among her survivors are her husband, Joseph of Minden; children Nancy Leonard of Fresno, Calif., and Carol Bradshaw and John Schwartz, both of Murietta, Calif.; brother, Barry Edis of Carson City; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren of Southern California.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local hospice.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home and Rose Hills Cemetery are in charge of arrangements.
