BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF: Bishop Creek Resorts (760-873-4484) checked in and said the colors are spectacular, right now. They are bright and vibrant.

Intake No. 2: Remains very good with olive Matuka flies or red/white Stingers. Salmon eggs are really starting to work.

North Lake: Is very good with nightcrawlers or Salmon eggs and some great action with olive Matuka flies.

Sabrina Lake: Is dropping a little but the fishing remains very good.

Fishing has been great with nightcrawlers or chartreuse Power Bait.

Top fish was a 2-pound, 7-ounce rainbow on a Thomas Buoyant lure.

South Lake: The top fish of the week was an 11-pound German brown.

Mark Zirges of Whittier caught a 4-pound, 9-ounce, a 4-pound, 8-ounce and a 3-pound, 8-ounce rainbow, and all three were taken on nightcrawlers.

Bishop Creek: Nightcrawlers or Power Bait have been super in the small pools or casting Panther Martin lures in the ripples. Lots of limits on red salmon eggs. We have been seeing loots of big fish, some browns but mostly rainbows.

Fishing is going well.

On Saturday, a couple from Reno caught 7 nice sized rainbows. They were fishing from a boat with worms near Lunker Point. Their largest rainbow was 2.5 pounds.

Two fly fishermen reported catching and releasing 27 fish at Crystal Point. They were using a black Funky Bugger fly.

FROG LAKE, CALIF. (On the hiking trail into Winnemucca Lake): No report.

Anderson to Corning: Water flow is 7,500 C.F.S. Catching 20-30 pound King salmon. The Kings are in! The gates are open at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam. Back trolling green/gold, T-55 Flatfish lures, wrapped with sardine wrap, and also bouncing roe.

Salmon season will remain open until Jan. 14, 2004.

Crowds are gone, fishing is picking up and the Kokes are turning color for their spawn.

Lots of rainbow and Mackinaw trout are being caught.

For the Kokanee Salmon, troll at a depth of 45-50 feet from the boat ramp to the island, early, then move towards the dam and Davies Creek.

Use red/green, Fire Tiger or Lollipop Murph's Kokanee Bugs.

Green and purple Murph's Flash Bugs are also working.

Harold Cosick of Sun Valley caught a 3-pound, 4-ounce, 19.75 inch Koke.

LAKE TAHOE -- North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "Fishing has been good but nothing spectacular.

We're catching our Mackinaw trout very early in the morning.

I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.

We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

Gene St. Denis of Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) reported, "Mackinaw fishing has been good, early in the morning.

Our biggest Mack this past week was a 12-pounder.

I've been trolling 130-220' deep, in a figure eight pattern, with large, silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows.

My trolling areas are Cal-Neva Point, Carnelian Bay and Dollar Point.

I'll be leaving on Friday for an 11-day backpack trip on the John Muir Trail."

Lower Twin Lake: Cary Blue of the Twin Lakes Resort (760-932-7751) reported that a husband and wife from Claremont, Calif. had an 8 fish stringer weighing 17-pound, 6-ounces. She had the largest trout, 3-pounds, 14-ounces.

In addition, other anglers caught a 4-pound, 9 ounce rainbow, a 4-pound, 5-ounce rainbow, a 4-pound, 2-ounce rainbow.

Upper Twin Lake: Annett's Mono Village (760-932-7071) reported Fish and Game did a triple plant last week of 2-7 pounders. The Kokanee salmon are spawning upstream. Large stringers of 2-pounders caught from shore with nightcrawlers or Power Bait, laced with garlic trout gravy. Top fish were two 4-pound, 12-ounce rainbows taken on a Thomas Buoyant lure and a Woolly Bugger fly.

Fishing has been good for everything.

Fishing is still red hot for perch, up to 11-12 inches. They are using small, leadhead jigs with a tiny piece of worm on the hook.

One fishermen came in and complained that he caught and released a lot of trout while trying to catch perch from shore."
