Wanda A. Davis, a Gardnerville resident for the past year, died April 7, 2004, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.

She was born Feb. 26, 1918, in New Mexico to Prentice Madison Thompson and Veda Owen. She was 86.

Ms. Davis worked as an administrative supervisor for Orange County for 25 years, worked for the Orange County Medical Association and was superintendent of schools in Orange County.

She raised three sons on her own.

Prior to moving to Gardnerville she lived in Newport Beach, Calif.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Adm. Glenn Thompson, commandant of the Coast Guard.

Among her survivors are her sons Jim of Smith Valley, Skip of Clearlake Oaks, Calif., and Marc of Colma, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held.

Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
