A memorial service for Margrit "Margaret" Fuchs, 74, will be at noon Monday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington.

Mrs. Fuchs died Aug. 2, 2004, in Yerington. She was born Nov. 11, 1929, in Rheineck, Switzerland, to Albert and Mina Tschuy. Her father was a Methodist minister.

She worked in England for a year as a nanny. She came to the United States in 1950 and worked in Chicago. She married Hans Fuchs and moved to San Rafael, Calif., before settling in Reno in 1952.

Mrs. Fuchs was the first female floorman (pit boss) in Nevada and started her career as a blackjack and roulette dealer, first at the Nevada Club and then at Harrah's. She turned down an offer to go on "What's My Line" and after nine months as a pit boss returned to dealing because "that's where the action was."

She started the Matterhorn Swiss Bakery in 1971 with her husband. She enjoyed vacations in Mexico, Barbados, Fiji and Hawaii and loved camping with her family at Donner Lake. She retired in 1993 to her Wabuska ranch. She enjoyed flowers and her pets.

She was preceded in death by her husband in December and a brother, Theo Tschuy.

Among her survivors are her children Chris, Ron, Dennis, Cindy and Gary; niece Edith and grandchildren Sara, Mina, Lisa, Franklin, Charlotte and Noelle; great-grandchildren Piercen and Seryn and sisters Dora, Elsbeth and Maya.

Memorial contributions may be made to the South Lyon Medical Center, c/o Joan Hall, 213 S. Whitacre St., Yerington, NV 89447.
