The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada is sponsoring a $1,000,000 Hole-In-One Shootout.

The event will be held from 2-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13-Friday, Sept. 17 at the Empire Ranch Golf Course driving range. Each attempt to qualify is $20.

For $20 a person will receive 20 golf balls to try to be one of the 20 people whose ball comes closest to the pin. Each person who purchases a $20 qualifying ticket in advance will have their name and phone number written on the ticket stub to be placed in the drawing for a Spa Pass for two at David Walley's Resort in Genoa.

The 20 persons closest to the pin during the 25 hours of qualifying will meet at the Red No. 9 tee box on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. Each qualifier will have one shot to score a hole-in-one for the special par three 165 to 170 yard hole for the contest.

Each of the 20 qualifiers will be videotaped during their attempt to score a hole-in-one. If one of the 20 qualifiers scores a hole-in-one that person will receive $1 million to be paid over 40 years, $25,000 a year for 40 years.

Each of the qualifiers will receive a certificate for one complimentary round of golf at Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch which includes green fee golf cart and range balls for play from Monday through Friday after 12 p.m. In addition there are nine golf packages and one dinner package to be given away to 10 of the 20 qualifiers. All of the qualifiers will receive either one or two prizes whether they score a hole-in-one or not. This is the first time an event like this has been held in the area.
