The Galena High girls basktball team couldn't contain post player Anita Burdick in a 63-50 loss to North Valleys on Thursday.

Burdick scored 29 points and Robin Swain hit 12-of-12 foul shots on her way to scoring 17 points for North Valleys. North Valleys jumped out to an 18-4 lead after one quarter. Galena pulled to within 30-23 at halftime, but North Valleys maintained control in the second half.

Galena did play without one of its top players, Caitlin Crofts, who's out with a back injury. It's hoped that Crofts can return in about a week. Kaitlin Porter scored 12 points and Caitlin Anderson added 11 points for the Grizzlies.
