Chris G. Christensen, 68, a Forks, Wash., resident for the past 14 years and former Carson City resident, died Feb. 7, 2004, at home. He was born Nov. 21, 1935, in Green Bay, Wis., to Ingwald Christensen.

He married Kay Oswald Dec. 6, 1975, in Carson City.

Mr. Christensen was a correctional officer at the Nevada State Prison in Carson City from 1974-1977, a counselor at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, Wash., from 1980-1990 and a classifications counselor at Olympic Corrections Center in Forks from 1990-1997. He was a member of the BPOE from 1977-2001. He enjoyed the outdoors, was an accomplished photographer, an avid reader, a desert rat and a rock hound.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from October 1953 to October 1973. He was a survival instructor and Vietnam veteran and was stationed in France, Oklahoma, Nevada, Washington and the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his stepson Bob Klinger.

Among his survivors are his wife of Forks; sons Lou of Reno and Erik of Seattle; stepsons John Klinger of Tucson, Ariz., James Klinger of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Mark Klinger of Walla Walla; daughters Monique Giron of Carson City and Kathy Klinger of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
