We did have a report of a Wiper caught last week.

The two best places to fish at the present time are either at the mouth of the river or by the dam.

February is the month to catch big Walleyes. In the past, we had 8-10 pounders checked in, right here at the store."

The fishing has been pretty good, over all.

The fly fishermen have been doing very good with black or olive-colored Woolly Worms at all of their usual places, mostly at "The Nets."

The big news is a 17-pounder caught on Valentine's Day by Brian Harding of Palomino Valley.

That cutthroat was only 32 inches long and it was a very heavy fish.It was caught from a boat, up on the north end, on a Sting King lure, which looks like an Apex lure."

George (George Molino of Pyramid Lake Charters) caught a couple dozen fish over the weekend, but nothing spectacular."

Fishing for rainbow trout in the Redding area, has been good from Redding to Anderson, with 8-15 fish days.

Water level is low, perfect for drifting.

Using PT No. 16's, Mayfly Nymph Nos. 14-16.

Egg patterns working well."

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning. I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

The fishing has been excellent, but nothing super big.

I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.

We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

- LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) reported: "Dollar Point: I'm seeing very few Mackinaw trout on the fish finder. You need to bounce along the bottom at 200-280 feet with a dodger and minnow. Getting limits but it takes time. Most Macks are 3-5 pounds, but we are getting some up to 9 pounds.

Cal Neva Point: Excellent for Macks on the east side. They are stacked in 220-280 feet. We've been getting them (5-11 pounds) between 200 and 400 feet."

- LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:

Gene St. Denis said, "The best trolling locations are in front of Camp Richardson, Edgewood, Ski Run Blvd. and Tahoe Keys.

We are getting 6-20 fish per trip with the Macks running 4-10 pounds.

I'm trolling at a depth of 160-240 feet (best at 220) with a short leader and Dodgers and live minnows.

Jigging has been best on the Ski Run Mound.

Toplining has been good in the shallow water. Use a No. 5-11 Rapala lure in either rainbow or black/gold color.

The largest rainbows are up to 4-5 pounds, the browns are up to 4 pounds.

Watch out for the rocks when in that shallow water.

- LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:

Gene St. Denis said, "The boat ramp at Cave Rock is the best place on the entire lake to launch your boat at the present time.

Make sure that you have 4WD with snow tires when launching your boat because of icy conditions on that ramp.

The Cave Rock Shelf is producing some good Macks at 180-260 feet. The average is 3-5 pounds with a couple between 9-11 pounds this last week.

Toplining is very good at Skunk Harbor, Sand Harbor, Logan Shoals, Deadman Point and Zephyr Point. We're using a Sepps flasher and either a minnow or worms. Troll slow in 15-20 feet of water, so the flashers just barely flutter.

We are getting equal numbers of rainbows, browns and Macks, up to 7 pounds.

Watch out for the rocks.

- TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550) said, "Your buddy Doug Busey of Douglas County was out here yesterday (Sunday) and didn't get anything. Thought you might like to know.

The weather is beautiful this morning, the sun is out and the lake is like a mirror.

The boaters did very good over the weekend.

They were trolling in the top-10 feet of water, out toward the middle of the lake, with either Rapala lures or flashers and worms.

It was a late bite with most of the action taking place from about 1:30 p.m. on.

The rainbows have been averaging about 1-1 3/4 pounds.

Shore fishing is still the same (Power Bait or worms) with no reports of limits.

- WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Steve Epling at the Wild Horse Resort (775-758-6472) said, "It's been snowing for quite a while (Monday morning), and the boss (Dennis Dunn) is out, driving around in the parking lot, trying to get stuck.

Business and fishing both continue to be great.

They've also been really very good on Perch, up to 12 inches, down toward the dam or over on the other side of the reservoir.

The best access to the reservoir is at the State Park and then you want to go toward the Indian Campground for larger Perch and trout.

Most fishermen have been jigging with white, yellow or Chartreuse, plastic jigs with the hook tipped with either a piece of worm or a piece of corn."

Dennis Dunn added, "We had a great trout derby over the weekend with 250-300 people.

Saturday's winner was Dave Checketts with a 21.5 inch Cutbow (4-pounds, 4-ounces).

Sunday's winner was Antonio Rios with a 22.5 inch Bowcutt (5-pounds, 3-ounces).
