- LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain of Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750) said, "The reservoir already has over 150,000 acres feet of water and this should be a great year for the Walleye fishing.

It was foggy, earlier this morning (Monday) and the temperature is currently 45 degrees.

The wind was horrible last week. It was blowing so hard that it blew over our outdoor phone booth.

The Walleye are starting to bite and if you fish for them, you should use live minnows.

It's a little early to get the minnows, but we sell them (Tui Chub, Suckers and Lahontan Red Shiners) for $4.75 a dozen. That's not bad, because we paid $7 for a dozen minnows on the Sacramento Delta."

There were a lot of people moving around but we did not weigh in one fish.

The weather was inclement with wind, rain and waves, which sent a lot of the boaters home, early.

It's pretty warm today (Monday morning) and quiet.

George (George Molino of Pyramid Lake Charters) was out on a charter Saturday and they had a good day. They caught and released about 20 trout.

RAYMOND LAKE, CALIF: No report.

- RED LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported brothers Kyle and Colton Halverson of Gardnerville caught their limits of brookies and rainbows on Sunday. They were jigging with white Maribou jigs and nightcrawlers. The ice is reported to be about 4 feet thick.

ROOSEVELT-LANE LAKES, CALIF: Closed.

- SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing in Redding (800-670-4448) said: "The water release is 50,000 CFS, way up from 4,500 last week.

Water high and muddy from the recent storms.

Not able to fish at this time.

Prior to storms, fishing for rainbow trout was good from Redding to Anderson, with 8-15 fish days."

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "Fishing has been up and down from day to day. One day it's great, the next day it is slow.

We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning. I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

Catching average size fish, with nothing big.

I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.

We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

- LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said: "The best trolling locations are in front of Camp Richardson, Edgewood, Ski Run Blvd. and Tahoe Keys.

Troll at a depth of 160-240 feet (best at 220) with a short leader and Dodgers and live minnows.

Jigging has been best on the Ski Run Mound.

Toplining has been good in the shallow water. Use a No. 5-11 Rapala lure in either rainbow or black/gold color. And, watch out for the rocks when in that shallow water.

- LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:

Gene St. Denis said, "The boat ramp at Cave Rock is still the best place on the entire lake to launch your boat at the present time.

Make sure that you have 4WD with snow tires when launching your boat because of icy conditions on that ramp.

The Cave Rock Shelf has been producing Macks at 180-260 feet. The average is 3-5 pounds.

Toplining is good at places like Skunk Harbor, Sand Harbor, Logan Shoals, Deadman Point or Zephyr Point. Use a Sepps flasher with either a minnow or worms. Troll slow in 15-20 feet of water, so the flashers just barely flutter. Watch out for the rocks."

- TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550) said, "Overall, fishing has been slow for both the shore fishermen and the boaters. Mostly because of the overcast and drizzly weather.

Shore fishermen have been using Power Bait or worms, but no reports of limits.

The boaters been trolling in the top-10 feet of water, out toward the middle of the lake, with either Rapala lures or flashers and worms. They are getting a couple of fish per boat, but also no reports of limits.

The largest fish last week was a little over 3 pounds (22 inches) and it compares with the largest, so far this season (23 3/4 inches).

- WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775-758-6472) said, "Believe it or not, our weather is nice, up here (Monday morning). The sun is out, it's warm in the daytime and just gets down to freezing at night.

We were full-up again at the resort, this last weekend. We've been that way, every weekend, since the first of January. This is the best business, we've had in three years.

There's plenty of thick ice and the fishing is excellent.

They are catching lots and lots of Perch, up to 12 inches, down toward the dam or over on the other side of the reservoir.

As usual, the best access and parking for fishing out on the ice is at the State Park.

Most fishermen have been jigging with white, yellow or Chartreuse, plastic jigs with the hook tipped with either a piece of worm or a piece of corn.
