Heberger finishes fifth at nationals

Galena High graduate Aaron Heberger finished fifth in calf roping at the National High School Finals Rodeo with a solid performance in Sunday's championship go-round in Gillette, Wyo.

Heberger, who represented the Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club, came into Sunday's go-round in ninth with a total time of 25.426 seconds in his first two go-rounds. He was able to move up after posting a time of 13.099 on Sunday to finish fifth with an overall time of 38.525 seconds.

Heberger's performance helped Nevada's boys place fifth as a team behind Texas (4,420), Nebraska (3,545), Florida (3,390) and New Mexico (3,240). Nevada's boys and girls placed 10th overall. (4,045) behind Texas (8,195), Utah (6,547), Wyoming (5,715), New Mexico (4,706), Nebraska (4,685), Colorado (4,585), Oregon (4,438), Florida (4,271) and South Dakota (4,075).
