The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is in need of volunteer cooks to plan and prepare all meals for their volunteer Backcountry Camp crews.

Each volunteer cook will actively participate in activities such as creating the menu, shopping for needed food items, kitchen setup (in the backcountry) and meal preparation.

The cooks need to plan on about 30 people for each meal.

The backcountry camps will be on Aug. 13-15 and Sept. 3-6 (Labor Day weekend).

Each camp will begin Friday evening at 6 p.m. with dinner and an evening hike around the area.

The backcountry crews will be working on the Tahoe Rim Trail near Shower's Lake in the South Lake Tahoe area and will camp at Schneider Cow Camp, where the kitchen will be set up.

According to Erin Casey of the TRTA, "Minimum cooking experience is required, such as nuking TV dinners, boiling water for Macaroni and Cheese or reheating a pizza in a oven."

The Tahoe Rim Trail is a combination hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trail that covers 165 mile around the perimeter of Lake Tahoe.

The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is headquartered at North Lake Tahoe and its executive director is Mark Kimbrough.

Person who are interested in volunteering as cooks are requested to contact Erin Casey at the TRTA at (775) 298-0012 or Email at erin@tahoerimtrail.org.
