A memorial service for William "Garrett" Watkins, 21, a Dayton resident for the past 15 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Dayton.
Mr. Watkins died Feb. 29, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Jan. 10, 1983, in Reno, to William H. and Michele Roberts Watkins.
He graduated from Dayton High School in 2002 and attended the University of Nevada, Reno and Western Nevada Community College. Before moving to Dayton, he lived in Fallon.
Mr. Watkins was a mechanic on heavy equipment. He enjoyed lifting weights, playing football, the outdoors and motorcycles. At Dayton High School, he played on the football team. He was also a red-shirt walk-on for the UNR football team when he attended UNR.
Among his survivors are his grandparents Don and Loretta Roberts of Clipper Mills, Calif.; William and Joan Watkins of Fontana, Calif. and James and Estene Baratti of Dayton; and brother, Dustin J. of Dayton.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
