A memorial service for Roger Mack Murdock, 73, of Reno, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Walton Funeral Home in Reno.

Mr. Murdock died Jan. 17, 2006, at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 22, 1932, in Madison, Wis., to Mack and Dorothy Brown Murdock.

He moved to Reno in 1945 from Dallas and graduated from Reno High School in 1948.

He received a degree in engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. He owned and operated Murdock's Clothing Stores in both Reno and Carson City. He was a supporter of local high school sports and coached and played on baseball, softball and flag football recreation league sports teams.

As a young man, he played UNR basketball for Jake Lawlor and was a UNR booster.

He attended the Rose Bowl for 30 consecutive years and was a fan of the Boston Celtics, St. Louis Cardinals and the UNR Wolf Pack.

Among his survivors are his wife, Laura, of Reno; sons Rick Murdock of Reno, Roger Murdock of Chandler, Ariz., Bryan Murdock of Kansas City, Mo., and Scott Murdock of Las Vegas; daughters Debbie Murdock of Davis, Calif., and Cindy Murdock of Reno; stepdaughters Debby Raat of Carson City and Tamara Allen of Elko; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls club of Truckee Meadows, 2680 Ninth St., Reno, NV 89512.

Walton Memorial in Reno is in charge of arrangements.
