Douglas baseball rolls to sweep

The Douglas baseball team got off to an impressive start to their season by sweeping their first two games in routs on Friday at the Reno High Tournament.

Douglas beat Lowry 12-2 then defeated McQueen 15-1. Chris Honer was among the leaders as he went 5-for-6 in the two games.

Against Lowry, Honer was 3-for-3 with three RBI and a stolen base. Tyson Estes was the winning pitcher, striking out four. Brandon Huff and Chad Walling each added two hits, including a double, and an RBI and Bryan Miller added a double

Against McQueen, Roman Davis went 3-for-4 with five RBI and a triple, Luke Rippee went 3-for-5 with a home run, two triples and four RBI, D.J. Brady went 3-for-3, Miller had two hits, a homer and two RBI and Honer went 2-for-3. Huff was the winning pitcher, striking out seven in six innings.
