BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF: Gary Olson of the Bishop Creek Resorts (760-873-4484) sent in this report:


Intake No. 2: Was loaded with float tubers over the weekend. Most reported great action, using worms, Pistol Pete, Thomas Buoyant or Super Duper lures.


North Lake: Lots of nice limits with rainbow Power Bait, Salmon eggs or Trout Traps.


South Lake: Remained good. Everyone was coming out with limits. Green Power Bait was best. One angler reported that the only casts he did not get a fish were when he missed the tug.


Bishop Creek: A 5-pound Alpers with a Woolly Bugger fly. A 4-pound, 12-ounce Alpers with a Pistol Pete.


Weir Pond: No report but has been good with Parachute Adams or Mosquito flies.




BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF: Patti Apted of the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing (760-873-7425) reported:


Sabrina Lake: Fishing has been great with worms or Power Bait at the inlets.


Many anglers were seen carrying stringers of limits.


Trollers were using flashers and worms or lures with a bit of red and gold.


Fly fishermen were using an olive Woolly Bugger, Matuka or mosquito fly.




BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) said the access road to Blues Lakes opened in time for the holiday weekend and the fishermen caught a "ton of fish."


Both Upper and Lower Blue Lakes were producing lots of limits of rainbows and brookies, mostly on worms and Power Bait, with some fishermen also using small lures.


The PG&E campground is still closed and will probably open about the middle of the month.


There were some problems with mosquitoes and a report of a couple of black bears in that area."

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Jim Reid of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760-932-7707) said, "Fishing was excellent for boaters and good from shore.


They caught a lot of fish.


There was a 5.5 pound German brown taken from shore with a Rapala lure."

CARSON RIVER AREA, CALIF:


East Carson: Is in good shape and the water is clear. A number of rafters over the weekend.


Dave Kirby reported that John Kramer of Gardnerville caught a 9.5 pound rainbow from the West Carson. He was using 4-pound test line with a black/red Panther Martin lure and it took him 25 minutes to land that trophy fish.


West Carson: Is in good shape and the water is clear. Good action over the weekend with lots of fishermen and lots of fish.


Todd Sodaro at the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229) reported fishing was slow all day Friday and early Saturday due to the rainstorm on Thursday evening.


Then the fishing became spectacular over the weekend with most of the success being from Saturday afternoon through late Monday.


Sunday was dynamite.


Lots of people caught lots of fish.


Kristi Ghiorso caught a 9 pound rainbow on orange Power Bait, about 200 yards from the resort.


Timm Daly caught a 5-pound rainbow on Salmon eggs.


Tyler Cook caught a 3..5 pound rainbow on a gold, No. 1 Fox lure.


Bob Kulis of Carson City caught two 4-pound rainbows and one 5-pound rainbow on a Roostertail lure.

Also being caught while trolling 6-7 colors of leadcore line with frog Needlefish lures or inflated nightcrawlers.

Lots of drinking and fighting.


I kicked two people out of the store for shoplifting and turned down another 7 phony ID's.


I heard that the beaches are absolutely trashed with garbage.


No reports of any fish being caught, I think that the fish are still frightened from the hordes of people, boats, jet skis, water skiers."

Redding to Anderson: Water release is 11,00 C.F.S. Fishing for rainbow trout is great with 15-25 fish days. Catching and releasing rainbows, up to 6 pounds. Using Pheasant Tails, Prince Nymphs, Caddis patterns and egg patterns.


Red Bluff: 739 King Salmon have passed over the Red Bluff Diversion Dam to date. Last year, to date, there were 163 Salmon. The King Salmon season will open on July 16.

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "Fishing has been great! The other day, five anglers tagged and released ten Macks and limited out on another 10 Macks. Our biggest was 7 pounds.


We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning and I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.


The fishing has been very good but nothing super big.


I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.


We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."


Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 110-280 feet deep. Biggest fish this week was 8 pounds. Cal Neva is off and on. Dollar Point is really slow.




LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:


Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said fishing is really tough and the bite has slowed down due to the full moon and warmer temperatures. Trolling in the Camp Richardson area with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 150-280 feet deep.




LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:


Gene St. Denis said, "Cave Rock Shelf is slow, right now, for smaller sized Mackinaws. Use a shorter leader, change your speed and bounce your minnow off the bottom."

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472 said, "It's been chilly, up here. We've still got road construction going on and with all of those folks staying here, it sure helps to pay the bills.


Fishing has been good for trout. It is average for the perch and catfish and I think that it is due to the chilly weather.


There have been some 4-pound catfish taken from the Hendrick's Creek area.


Lots of people camping out over the holiday weekend. We've got campers in trailers and tents, scattered all over the place."
