A graveside service with military honors for Rickey D. Thompson, 50, a Joplin, Mo., resident for the past three years and former Carson City resident, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson died May 26, 2004, in Joplin.

He was born July 26, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., to Robert V. and Delores Thornton Thompson.

After graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. After returning, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served four years in search and rescue in Eureka, Calif., and later in Petaluma, Calif.

He lived in the California Bay area and in Carson City from 1989-1995.

Mr. Thompson was a long distance truck driver.

Among his survivors are his son, Jeremy of Carson City; daughters Melinda Thompson of Reno and Khristina Lamoreaux of Carson City; mother, Delores Loyd of Carson City; sister, Tracy Middleton; brothers Robert of Grove, Okla., and Larry of Bend, Ore.; and three grandchildren.
