Rankl a Wendy's state finalist

Carson High senior Liz Rankl is among 1,020 state finalists for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award.


Among the 1,020 state finalists, one male and one female student-athlete in each state will be named as state winners. State winners will be chosen this month.


Out of the 102 state winners, 12 student-athletes - six boys and six girls, will be named as national finalists and will travel to New York City for the Wendy's High School Heisman Weekend celebration.


The 12 national finalist will be invited to attend a banquet and other activities Dec. 10-12. One male and one female student-athlete will be announced as the Wendy's High School Heisman National Award winners.


The competition for the Wendy's High School Heisman program is rigorous. Out of 14,875 student - 1,020 state finalists are chosen.


Criteria for the award is athletic and scholastic achievement, community service and involvement in extra-curricular activities. An excellent student, Rankl is heavily involved in extra curricular activities and community service. She was the Sierra League champion this fall in golf and placed seventh in the NIAA 4A State Tournament.
