A graveside service for Raymond H. Smith, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 22 years, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Smith died Nov. 7, 2004, at home.

He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Selma, Ala., to Leroy and Mabel Smith.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Fallon.

Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Air Force more than 20 years during the Vietnam War. He was last stationed at Fallon Air Force Base.

He was a member of the Noncommissioned Officers Association. He loved gardening, fishing and treasure hunting with his metal detectors.

Among his survivors are his wife, Virginia of Carson City; sons Alvin Ferrer of Carson City, Lindell Smith of Panquich, Utah, and Kenneth Smith of Las Vegas; daughters Aileen Lumbao of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Rita Ann Johnson of Selma; and three granddaughters.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
