A gathering of friends of Karen Louise Nathanson, 67, a Smith Valley resident, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at her home in Smith Valley, 50 Sharon Dr.

Mrs. Nathanson died Nov. 4, 2004, at her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1937, in West Monroe, La.

She studied history at the University of Oregon.

She married Steve Nathanson.

Before moving to Nevada, she lived in Halibut Cove, Alaska, until 1994.

Mrs. Nathanson enjoyed baking, quilting, horses and reading. She fished with her husband and ran her own gillnetter in Cook Inlet during the early 1970s. She and her husband traveled extensively, going around the world twice and making other trips abroad.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Edith, brother, Bob; son, Tom and husband, Steve in 1998.

Among her survivors are her son, Robert of Homer, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law Patty and Vern Hadley of Dayton and grandchildren Sam and Rachel Hadley.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
