Robert William 'Butcher' Jones

A memorial service for Robert William "Butcher" Jones, 73, a Carson City resident for the past 34 years, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Mr. Jones died Sept. 4, 2004, at home. He was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Reno to Harry Butcher and Flora Johnson Jones.

He married Jo Ella Kimbro July 3, 1948, in Reno.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Fremont, Calif.

Mr. Jones was a retired correctional officer for Nevada State Prison, a retired police officer for the Legislative Police and a member of the Carson City Sheriff Reserve.

He enjoyed his family, flying, hunting and law enforcement. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene Rowland, Isaac Rudy Jr. and Jim Butcher.

Among his survivors are his wife of Carson City; children Ron and Kathryn Fosnaugh of Carson City, Stoney and Sharon Gregory of Springfield, Ore., and Robert "Hondo" and Tammy Jones of Carson City; brother, Jerry Butcher of Hermiston, Ore.; sister, Betty Bohland of Jackson, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
