Inmate allegedly commits suicide

Stuart Bogert, a 46-year-old inmate at Carson City Jail since Aug. 19, was found dead in his cell at approximately 7:43 a.m. Saturday of an apparent suicide by hanging.

According to Carson City Chief Deputy Bev Moltz, Bogert had been arrested on Aug. 19 on a felony warrant for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

He was awaiting a date to appear in District Court on the charge.

Bogert had previously been arrested on Aug. 13 on Bonanza Drive on suspicion of felony possession of stolen property and a gross misdemeanor charge of destroying evidence.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into Bogert's death.
