The Carson Senators Junior Pee Wee Blue Pop Warner football team continued its stingy ways by posting its second straight shutout in as many games by beating the Sparks Wolf Pack 19 Ð 0.
Carson's defense was tenacious, shutting down everything that the Wolf Pack threw at it. Carson's defense was lead by Taylor Anderson, Sam Blei, Austin Brown, Rodney Calhoun, Levi Carter, Cole Dufresne, Alex Eddy, Tony Fondi, Cody Hammond, Patrick Hesse, Willie McDonald, Austin Pacheco, Logan Peternell, Gabriel Pongasi, Chance Quilling, Dylan Sawyers, Kurtis Scull, Andrew Toland, Zach White and Joseph Zinda.
The only threat the Wolf Pack posed was a pass that was completed, but Pacheco caused a fumble with Dufresne scooping up the ball and ending the threat. Eddy, Hesse, Pacheco, Peternell, Pongasi, Quilling, Sawyers and White all had tackles for a loss.
Carson's offense also continued to roll. Sawyers scored the Senators first touchdown with a sweep around the left side running 31 yards for paydirt. The Senators second score was set up by Pacheco gaining 33 yards on an end around and then Sawyers again sweeping around the left side, dashing 26 yards for the touchdown.
Not only did the Senators ground game wear down the Wolf Pack, but it opened up the passing game as well. Colin McColloch hooked up with Pongasi for a 45-yard touchdown pass, which put the Senators up 19Ð0.
Also contributing to the ground attack for the Senators were Brandon Akers, Pat Craugh, Daniel Okimura, Quilling and Zinda.
"I am so proud of our lineman," offensive line coach Mike Pacheco said. "Each week Keegan Aiazzi, John Borges, Keith Collier, Alex Crathers, Conner Fallon, Nick Garcia, Issac Hernandez, Jacob Myers, Pacheco, Clinton Page, Pongasi and Cody Reno continue to get better and better."
Carson looks to continue its winning ways this Friday night where it will host Truckee at 8 p.m. at Governor's Field.
