A service for Fred Ray Smith, 84, a Yerington resident for the past 43 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Yerington.
Mr. Smith died April 6, 2005, in Reno. He was born June 12, 1920, in Russel Mine, Colo., to Fred E. and Laurel Palmer Smith.
He received a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Mr. Smith was a wildlife biologist for the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
He was inducted into the Trap Shooters Hall of Fame in 2004, and was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and the Governor's Committee for Sage Grouse Conservation.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a technical sergeant.
Among his survivors are his children Leta Kaye Bader, Larry Michael Smith, Ted Ray Smith and Rick Smith; sister, June Rose Ashman; brothers Vert, Bill, Everett and Lowell; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Freitas Rupracht.
