Lawrence Russell Dilley, 68, died Aug. 19, 2005, at Washoe Medical Center of cancer. He was born in Oakland, Calif.
Mr. Dilley worked for the Southern California Gas Co. before retiring to Northern Nevada. He was an avid sportsman and marksman and amateur sports car driver. He liked to restore old cars. An active Republican, he received several honors as a member of the Douglas County Republican Central Committee and the Republican state party. He was Douglas County co-chairman for Congressman Jim Gibbons for more than 10 years. He was a volunteer member of the Douglas County Sheriff's Department and a mentor for the Northern Nevada Boys & Girls Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are his wife, Sherry; daughter, Heather Dilley; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Paula; granddaughters Barbara and Gloria; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Marion Dilley; sister-in-law and husband, Cindy and Tim Miller; and several extended-family members.
