Roy Francis Lerg Jr., 77, a Smith Valley resident since 1951, died Dec. 22, 2006, at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington.
Mr. Lerg was born May 22, 1929, in Monterey Park, Calif., to Roy F. Lerg Sr. and Louise E. Snell Lerg.
He married Lola Acciari in 1948.
He worked for the Azusa Rock & Sand Co. for two years before moving back to Smith Valley and purchasing a farm.
He was a member of the Smith Valley Baptist Church.
He enjoyed reading, history, hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by grandson Lucas Lerg.
Among his survivors are his wife of 58 years; son and daughter-in-law Roy and Debbie Lerg; daughter and son-in-law Jeanne and Lawrence Thompson of Smith; brother and sister-in-law Dand and Faye Lerg of Reno; sister Marilyn Lang of Glendora, Calif.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service was held at Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Travis Walker officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Smith Valley Library.
Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
