A funeral service for the Rev. Roy Parker, 72, a Carson City resident for the past 32 years, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Capital Christian Center.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Rev. Parker died Feb. 6, 2004, in Carson City. He was born July 20, 1931, in Clarksville, Tenn., to Furman C. and Luda Lane Parker.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Pasadena, Calif.

Rev. Parker was a chaplain of Carson-Tahoe Hospital, a minister of the Full Gospel Church in Carson City for 20 years and chaplain for the Legislative Counsel Bureau.

He served on the board of directors for the International Ministerial Association, Friends In Service Helping and the Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada. He performed many weddings and funerals in Carson City.

He was preceded in death by his brother Furman C. Jr. in 2003.

Among his survivors are his wife of 54 years Eleanor Higgins, son and daughter-in-law Lawrence W. and Karen of Carson City, and daughter and son-in-law, Debra Parker and Tim Tobias, all of Carson City; sisters Thelma P. Tubbs of Hanford, Calif., and Geneva P. Adams of Fullerton, Calif.; brother Edward of Kernville, Calif., and grandchildren Jeff Tobias, Joshua Parker and Heather LePire.

Burial will be in the Churchill County Public Cemetery in Fallon.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
